WILSON´S PHALAROPE Phalaropus tricolor
A delicate, graceful little wader with a small head, long, thin legs and a needle-like bill. He is a winter visitor to Paraguay which means we don´t get to see the best of him, his silver-white winter dress in stark contrast to the bold, handsome colouration he adopts on his breeding grounds. Note the peculiar way of feeding used by these birds, "spinning" in circles as they float on the water, whilst picking at tasty morsels with the bill!
