POINT-NOSED RACER Philodryas baroni CHACO
Perhaps the most distinctive of the Paraguayan racers on account of its vivid colouration and upturned snout, this is however a rarely recorded species which inhabits the more inhospitable areas of the Dry Chaco. Semi-arboreal (which likely adds to the difficulties in detection) it is an active pursuit hunter of small mammals and birds. Green and brown morphs are known.
