ROUGH-LEGGED TYRANNULET Phyllomyias burmeisteri
This may seem like a strange common name for this little green canopy tyrannulet - I mean you could never hope to judge the roughness of a small bird´s legs as it flits through the highest tree-tops, but get one in your hand and you´ll see where the name comes from. This species is one of several small greenish birds in the Atlantic Forest and is a potential identification banana skin. Note the pinkish mandible of this species, the dull, almost streaky underparts and of course its distinctive voice to be sure!
