MARBLED WEEPING FROG Physalaemus marmoratus
Named for the bold marbled patternation on the upperside, this medium-sized frog (he is no dwarf!) is found mainly in the northern Orient, being replaced by the similar Physalaemus biligonijerus in the Chaco. Note the pristine white belly and lack of bold "eye-spots" on the rear, which help separate him from the superficially similar Eupemphix nattereri. Like most frogs in this genus males can be distinguished from females easily by their blackish throats.
