WHITE-WEDGED PICULET Picumnus albosquamatus
Of the three piculets found in Paraguay this is by far the hardest to find, being restricted to the humid forests of Alto Paraná in the far east of the country! It can be identified easily enough, it is the only one with spotted, not barred underparts. As in most woodpeckers males can be identified by their red crown.
