GREAT GREBE Podicephorus major
Easily the largest of Paraguay´s grebes, this is a graceful species that occasionally strays to our waterways. With almost twenty years passed since the last record, one bird in 2009 at Laguna Blanca during a FAUNA Paraguay tour (seen by Hugo del Castillo) and another bird photographed below by Rob Clay at the Bahía de Asunción in October 2010 suggest that this vagrant species still appears when the conditions are right.
