SOLITARY CACIQUE Procacicus solitarius
Despite his name the Solitary Cacique isn´t actually solitary at all! In fact you are more likely to encounter him in pairs or small groups. Like other Cacqiues they have a range of strange vocalisations, the most distinctive of which sounds uncannily like the whining call of the Grey Catbird Dumetaria carolinensis which will likely be familiar to many North American birders. He is a secretive bird, and recognising his voice is a good starting point for tracking him down!
