Note that the identification of these images as Promops nasutus is tentative as the specimen was not measured. It is based on known distribution and habitat preference of the genus Promops in Paraguay. There exists the possibility that it is P.centralis.
BROWN MASTIFF Promops nasutus
The two species of the genus Promops are extremely similar, and to confound tings further are remarkably similar to bats of the genus Molossus. Perhaps the most obvious character distinguishing them from the latter are the long calcars which reach the tail. Other characteristics to look out for in this genus are the convex rostrum, the tuft of hairs resembling a moustache below the nose and the large antitragus with a constricted base.
