AZARA´S FOX Lycalopex gymnocercus
Up in the Chaco lives a second species of fox, a more slender, lightly-built species with long pointed ears and a long snout. The Azara´s Fox goes by a host of English names, depending on you speak to he is the South American Grey Fox (though he is much more notable for the reddish areas of the coat!) or Pampas Fox (his range extends well beyong the Pampas!). He is numerous in the dry Chaco, but less common elsewhere. His reddish feet are the most reliable diagnostic feature.
