·Paul Smith - Co-author of the Field Guide to the Birds of Paraguay, the mini field-guide series and founder of FAUNA Paraguay, Paul has lived in Paraguay since 2003. He is married to Carol and has two sons Shawn Ariel and Ewan Nahuel. A qualified zoologist and registered level 2 biologist with CONACYT he has extensive field experience in Paraguay, but is still amazed on a daily basis by the beauty of the country´s “naturaleza”. Though birds are his specialist subject he has a keen interest in all vertebrates and insects, especially Lepidoptera. Paul is the Paraguayan representative of the Neotropical Bird Club and a member of the IUCN Anteater, Sloth and Armadillo Specialist Group. He is currently involved in extensive inventory work of all Paraguayan fauna, especially working with Para La Tierra at their Centro IDEAL.
