SPECTACLED OWL Pulsatrix perspicillata
One of Paraguay´s largest owls, this species occupies the western half of the country, being replaced in the east by the Tawny-browed Owl, a species that was once considered conspecific. Note however the white "spectacles" in this species, the yellow eyes and the yellowish belly. Listen out for his bizarre call, a weirdly wobbly noise that sounds like vibrating a piece of aluminium.
