SAND MARTIN Riparia riparia
If you are from the States you will call him Bank Swallow, in Europe he´s the Sand Martin, whilst in Paraguay he´s neither! This is a small swallow associated with water. It has a frantic, batlike flight which makes him easy to identigy, even though his plumage could conceivably be confused with the much larger Brown-chested Martin. He is a migrant visitor to Paraguay, spending the southern hemisphere summer here, reaching his greatest abundance in the Chaco.
