COMB DUCK Sarkidiornis melanotos
A stranger duck you will never see, the male Comb Duck has a bizarre rounded cask on the upper bill. Rather goose-like, it is a rare and secretive species, somewhat nomadic and given to perching in trees. Birds can suddenly turn up in places where they have previously been absent. Despite its low density population the species has a wide distribution, being found right up into Central America and even in Africa!
