MICROORDER SCINCOMORPHA
Two superfamilies (Scincoidea and Lacertoidea) encompassing three families (Scincidae, Teidae and Gymnophthalmidae) and nineteen species occur in Paraguay. They are characterised by the fact that there is generally no contact between the jugal and squamosal in the upper temporal arcade. The rectus abdominalis lateralis muscle is present.
