TEMMINCK“S SEEDEATER Sporophila falcirostris ATLANTIC FOREST VULNERABLE
With his massive and somewhat strangely-shaped bill, this forest seedeater is a bamboo specialist. One of a group of semi-nomadic birds that specialises on the seeds of flowering bamboo, the reproductive cycles of their favourite food plants require him to move around continually. Like many species that share this precarious lifestyle in an increasingly fragmented landscape, he finds himself declining rapidly.
