CHACO OWL Strix chacoensis CHACO
The Chaco Owl is considered one of the Chaco "Big 6", the six species that top every birders list when they visit the remotest part of our wonderful country. It is a large owl, belonging to the "Wood Owl" group and in the far north of the Chaco can actually be quite numerous in places. Bring along a recording of his call and you can greatly enhance your chances of finding him, and once you locate him, he is often only too happy to pose for photographs.
