OCHRE-CHEEKED SPINETAIL Synallaxis scutata
With his bold face markings setting him apart from the rest of his genus, it is a shame that this pretty little spinetail only occurs in the remote northern Chaco. Its a long way to go to see him, but well worth the effort when this skulker finally comes into view. Note that his song is almost identical to that of the Atlantic Forest endemic Grey-bellied Spinetail, though the two never occur together, this being a species of dry or subhumid forest undergrowth.
