LEAST GREBE Tachybaptus dominicus
Smallest of the New World Grebes, the Least can be readily identified by his small size and golden eye. Grebes are expert swimmers with lobed toes and come to land only to breed. In fact they are not very fond of land at all, their legs are set so far back on their body that it means that walking becomes a terrible chore! He is much more at home on the water where he dives freely in search of his invertebrate prey.
