GREAT RUFOUS WOODCREEPER Xiphocolaptes major CHACO
The largest member of the woodcreeper subfamily and arguably one of the most impressive, his wholly rufous plumage worn like a tight-fitting brown suit. He´s a bird of dry areas, using his powerful bill to wedge bark from tree trunks to get at tasty morsels that hide below.
